Obituary
Joyce Scroggin, 94, of Mt. Pulaski,
passed away peacefully on January 23rd, 2024.
Joyce was born on February 8th, 1929, in Buffalo,
MO. The daughter of Walter and Oma (Cowan) Baker.
She married her life-long friend and companion, John
“Jack” Scroggin on August 15th, 1948, in Washington,
IL. Jack and Joyce celebrated their 70th wedding
anniversary in 2018.
After Jack finished college, Jack and Joyce returned
home to the family business. Joyce’s service to Bo-Jac
Seed Company far exceeded her role as the company’s
Secretary/Treasurer. She filled in wherever there
was a need. Her tireless energy served her well
throughout her life.
Jack and Joyce loved attending Illinois football
games, family get-togethers, wintering in North
Port, FL., and traveling the world. Their trips took
them to far corners of the world including sailing
down the Yangtze River in China, visiting the Taj
Mahal in India, and even facing down a rhino while
on an African Safari. No travel adventure was off
limits to them.
