Obituary

Darrell L. Wibben, 78 of Lincoln passed away on Thursday January 25, 2024

Darrell L. Wibben was born July 4, 1945, the son of Albert and Lydia Wibben. He graduated from Hartsburg-Emden High School. He married Roberta Hoffert in 1969. She survives. Darrell and Roberta raised two sons Wesley and Michael.

A life-long resident of Lincoln and Logan County, Darrell worked at PPG in Lincoln, the Clock Shop, and at the Lincoln Walmart where he officially retired and began enjoying the slower, simpler side of life.

He was an avid woodcarver with a passion for creating his interpretation of objects from nature from mushrooms to eagles and owls, he enjoyed capturing what God created and preserving it for others to enjoy.

Many of his artworks have been on display in Kickapoo Creek Park as he took the trunks of old trees that had been downed and turned them into statues that walkers enjoyed as they traversed around the park. He also had a knack for choosing the right woods for walking sticks. He would find the perfect piece, then carve a top onto the stick.

Darrell was very much at home at the Creekside Environmental Center and was so dedicated to the center that a bench was named for him that sits and overlooks the creek bed, making for an ideal place for relaxation and meditation.

Darrell also had a passion for fishing and birdwatching and enjoyed both those activities with his family.
