Mount Pulaski wins opening game in regionals

The
Lady Toppers defeated Heyworth 60-44 on Monday night in the LeRoy
Regional with sophomore Alyson Murphy scoring a new season-high of
41 points.
Murphy and Kenzi Chandler each scored six points in the first
quarter to lead Mount Pulaski to a 16-6 lead.
Murphy led the team with 11 points in the second quarter and Mount
Pulaski was on a mission, leading 32-14 at the half.
Murphy was able to toss in 11 more points in the third quarter and
Mount Pulaski was leaving the Hornets buzzing with a 44-30 lead.
Murphy scored four field goals in the fourth quarter and the team
earned the rest of their points at the free throw line as Mount
Pulaski advanced to the regional championship with a 60-44 win over
Heyworth.
Mount Pulaski improved to 21-9 with the regional win.

The Lady Toppers will play LeRoy for the regional
championship on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. in LeRoy.
