Chester-East Lincoln places 4th in State

The
Chester-East Lincoln 8th grade boys basketball team lost 38-36 to
Peoria St. Jude in overtime at the 2024 IESA Class 8-1A State
Basketball Tournament last Thursday night in Warrensburg.
As the only public school to finish in the top four, the Panthers
still brought home the fourth place trophy.
The Panthers led the game 13-6 after the first quarter. At the half
CEL was up 21-16.
By the time the third quarter ended, the Panthers were still on top
30-25.
In the fourth quarter, the Panthers were outscored 10-5 and the game
was tied 35-35 in regulation.
Peoria St. Jude won the overtime battle and the final score was
38-36.
Grady Rutledge led the Panthers with 13 points, including three 3s.
Ayden Ferguson tossed in 10 points for CEL.
The Panthers ended the season with a 17-9 record.
