On Saturday, February 24th, the public is invited to hear from noted author and humanitarian Andrew Snorton.

Snorton will present a program from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This is Author Andrew Snorton

The Illinois born and New Jersey-raised author is a Wake Forest University alumnus. His initial corporate background (auto insurance claims) is complimented with his involvement with service programs like Bowl for Kids’ Sake (with Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta) and other related programs. However, he reaches for more as he transitions to teaching in Gwinnett County Public Schools at Pinckneyville Middle School; he serves as an advisor for the after- school sports programs, the yearbook, and the Lyricists’ Lounge Poetry Club (in addition to teaching language arts, social studies, and journalism). While making positive inroads, there’s more in store.

He grows as a community presence, ranging from his board membership on Family Food Festival Atlanta, the LEAD Foundation, Inc., a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc (since 1991), including the Alphas of Atlanta (which hosts its annual #AlphaDerbyWeekend TM ) , along with different advisory boards including serving as a former president of the Association of Wake Forest University Black Alumni (2011-15), the university’s Alumni Council (2011-16), Alumni-In-Admissions, the School of Divinity (2017-22), the Greek Alumni Advisory Board, and other related entities. And then in 2017, he expands his reach in adding the title of published author.

His 2017 debut
Deeper than your deepest sleep: thoughts on love with Joseph Snorton, appeals to readers and fans of poetry who can identify with the action and energy of love. Based on conversation with a family member (Joseph) he didn’t know existed until 2014, the 19-chapter book is an open and sincere poetic recollection of conversation covering love via the lens of family, friends, community, people in and out of your life, along with self-reflection through individual and spiritual retrospectives, allowing it to resonate with any audience and providing perspective on navigating through head and heartache and understanding love is attainable.

His 2018 release 9 stories of faith: volume 1, focuses on the notion that we are all dealing with some sort of life challenge; however, there are some dealing with major issues each day. Through the lens of their respective faith (i.e. Christianity, Hinduism, and Islam), best practices in health and wellness, their support network, and how they change their way of thinking, individuals open up about the challenges they face (ranging from physical health, mental health, life after incarceration, and other life challenges) and how they still live lives of positivity and purpose.

It’s the intersection of faith and focus leading to self-empowerment and beyond regardless of your position. While readers don’t have to do things exactly as others do, there are positive pathways to addressing life’s challenges to where they still have the capacity to do and be a positive and meaningful presence and in turn, realizing your larger purpose.

The 2020 release
nothing Minor (hardcover and e-book) takes an in-depth yet accessible look for fans at multiple levels at the National Pastime via the lens of the minor leagues. Covering 7 games in 8 weeks across the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi, it provides an intimate and engaging look at the grand old game at the A, AA, and AAA level.

Complete with player interviews, game-coverage, photos, and a look at the Negro Southern Leagues Museum (during the 100th anniversary of the league), fans of the game at all levels can connect with the overall gamesmanship to connecting with future stars (as to date, at least 6 of the players interviewed are either on Major League rosters or have seen time at that level) and seeing the game within and beyond the game.

The 2022 release
quotes and notes: something’s on the horizon, is the ideal blend of think- perspective piece and journal for readers in need of encouragement, empowerment, a little challenge, and shaping your perspective. With a combination of original quotes by the author (with one exception) designed to spark one’s thinking and related actions, it’s about taking the initial steps of honing one’s focus; complemented with the space to journal, readers can formulate their thoughts and ideas and start aligning them with their larger goals of their professional, community, and personal growth, unlocking what is truly inside them and realizing the potential positives that truly could be within reach and are on the horizon.
