[February 28, 2024]

On Sunday the ballroom at the Lincoln Knights of Columbus was fill to overflowing with happy guests enjoying the annual Logan County 4-H Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser.

The dinner this year was catered by Nuthatch Hill BBQ who proved beyond a doubt that they can certainly cook more than pork. The meal of tossed salad, spaghetti with meat sauce and a bread stick was complemented with a wide variety of desserts donated to the dinner by 4-H member families.

In addition to a good meal, there was a silent auction containing baskets and other items donated by more than 80 individuals, businesses, and 4-H clubs.

Bidding was going well on all the items with hopes that the final tally would add an impressive dollar amount to the coffers of the Logan County 4-H Foundation.

There was also a chance to by a donation card giving anywhere from one dollar to $100. Guests could choose a card with a dollar amount written on it and donate that amount. It was announced during the afternoon activities that if the foundation sold all the dollar amounts it would add up to just over $5,000.

In addition to the enjoyable meal and the fun of competing for a silent auction item, the day included recognition of Logan County 4-H clubs and their members.

Logan County Extension Ag Educator Reagan Tibbs, a former Logan County 4-Her himself, announced the clubs, club awards, and member awards with assistance from Sherri Bishop, Logan County 4-H Youth Development Program Coordinator.

The following is the list of recognitions at the Sunday afternoon fundraiser provided by Carissa Davis of the Logan County Extension:

4-H Fall of Fame inductee from Logan County is Amy Hyde. For twenty years Hyde was employed with the University of Illinois Extension as a 4-H program coordinator in Logan County. She worked with countless youth, volunteers, teachers, and community members while assisting with 4-H Shooting Sports, Teen Teachers, 4-H Ambassadors, and the 4-H shows. She was also especially well known for her work as an ag literacy coordinator with the Ag in the Classroom program. “Seeing these children excited to learn about agriculture and seeing that I had an impact on them is the most rewarding part,” said Hyde.
