Obituary
Jackie L. “Jack” Crane, 76, passed
away on January 1, 2024 at his home in Beason.
Jack was born on June 15, 1947 in Beason to John W.
and Roberta H. Crane. He grew up farming with his
father on the family farm in Beason. He graduated
from Clinton High School in 1966 where he was
involved in FFA.
Jack married Clara Diane Lawler on June 23, 1973.
She preceded him in death on August 30, 1995. He
married Janis Faye White on December 24, 1997. She
survives.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his
step-mother Vera C. Crane, and his sister Jill Boyd.
He is survived by his sons Jeremy (Cassandra) Crane
and Damon White, his daughters Charity
Crane-Hutchison, Amy (Greg) Humphrey, and Jamie
(Craig) Pollitt, and 10 grandchildren.
Jack served in the Illinois National Guard from
1966-1971. During this time, he was mobilized to
Chicago in 1968 to assist with the Chicago Riots.
After the family farm was sold, he spent a few years
driving a semi, then drove school buses for Lincoln
Community High School. He retired from Lincoln
Community High School after 30 years as a custodian
and groundskeeper, where he will always be
remembered as Jumpin’ Jack Flash and took extreme
pride in the appearance of the school grounds,
especially the sports fields.
Jack’s work ethic will never be matched. His laugh
and sense of humor never forgotten. His endless
knowledge and ability to fix anything truly missed.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He loved
being outdoors and spending time with his family;
especially his wife and dog Frankie. He also enjoyed
watching Nascar, Chicago Bears football, and St.
Louis Cardinal baseball.
As per Jack’s request, no services will be held.
Cremation rights have been accorded to Central
Cremation Center in Forsyth. A private family
service will be held at a later date. |
