Obituary
Mary “Margo” Schwab, 86, of Lincoln,
passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at her home.
Margo was born April 16, 1937, in Pittsburgh, PA,
the daughter of James Torrence and Marguerite
(Brinker) Culp. She married Kenneth Schwab on August
30, 1958, in Webster Groves, MO. He preceded her in
death in November of 2022.
Margo is survived by her daughters, Kimberly (Kevin)
Hubbard, Kathy Mara, Kendall (Tad) Martin, and
Courtney (Chris) Patel; her ten grandchildren and
one great grandchild. Margo is also survived by her
two sisters and brother, Marcia (Ed) BonDurant,
Marilyn (Jim) Meier, James (Linda) Culp; and her
sister-in-law, Sandy Culp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and
husband, Kenneth; her brother, Charles T. Culp; and
brother-in-law, Stanley S. Schwab.
Margo graduated from the University of Illinois with
a bachelor’s in education. She was also part of the
Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She held various
leadership roles in the Lincoln Elk’s Club, Lincoln
Community Concerts, League of Women Voters, Lincoln
Community Theater, and Lincoln Junior Women’s Club.
Margo loved her book club, bridge, tennis, boating,
traveling, and especially her annual Kentucky Lake
Family Reunion. |
Her faith was extremely important to
her and was an active member of the First
Presbyterian Church in Lincoln where she served as a
Sunday School Teacher and Deacon for many years.
The Schwab family would like to
extend a special thanks to caregivers Brittney
Cosby, Carol Utterback, and Margo’s nurse, Sonia
Williamson.
A memorial service for Margo will be held at 11:00
am on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at First
Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. Visitation will take
place prior from 9:30 am - 11:00 am also at the
church. Burial will follow the service at New Union
Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Margo’s name to
First Presbyterian Church, Lincoln or The American
Cancer Society. Services have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
