Mount Pulaski defeats Hartsburg-Emden 86-54

The
Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers hosted the Hartsburg-Emden Stags on Friday
night and the home team won both games.
Mount Pulaski won the Varsity game 86-54 and the JV game 51-28.
The Hilltoppers sprinted out to a 12-2 lead to start the game. That
lead quickly escalated to 17-5. With Mount Pulaski having the hot
hands in the first quarter the score rose to 25-10 with a minute
left to play. Mount Pulaski would pour in six 3s in the first
quarter, with Colt Selinger hitting the last one to set the score at
28-13. Beau Tschantz led the Hilltoppers with 11 points in the first
quarter.
Nolan Deibert drained three 3s in the second quarter to guide the
Hilltoppers to a 52-26 lead at the half.
Six Hilltoppers shared the scoring in the third quarter. Eric Cooper
led the team with nine points. Mount Pulaski took a commanding 80-44
lead over the Stags. Hunter Kretzinger received the loudest applause
of the night near the end of the third quarter with his reverse
layup that dropped through the net for two points.
Aaron Kuznik and Rohan Allspach each scored 3s in the final quarter
for Mount Pulaski, bringing the team total to 12 on the night. Mount
Pulaski’s unstoppable offense takes the win by a final score of
86-54.
Beau Tschantz and Nolan Deibert each led Mount Pulaski with 16
points apiece. Franklin Wade poured in 14 points and Eric Cooper
tallied 13 points.
Evan Cross of Hartsburg-Emden led all scorers with 20 points.
Aaron Kuznik and Braden Olson each hit double-figures in the JV game
as Mount Pulaski won 51-28 over the Stags.
