NBA roundup: Anthony Davis helps Lakers edge Raptors

[January 10, 2024]  Anthony Davis recorded 41 points and 11 rebounds, LeBron James added 22 points and 12 assists and the Los Angeles Lakers won consecutive games for the first time in over a month with a 132-131 victory over the visiting Toronto Raptors on Tuesday.

Christian Wood scored 14 points and Cam Reddish added 13 as the Lakers won for just the fifth time in 15 games since winning the NBA's inaugural in-season tournament last month.

Taurean Prince, Austin Reaves and D'Angelo Russell each scored 11 points for the Lakers, who shot 54.3 percent from the field.

Scottie Barnes scored 26 points and Pascal Siakam added 25 as the Raptors fell to 3-2 since RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley were added to the mix following a trade with the New York Knicks. Barrett scored 23 points and Quickley added 21 before he fouled out in the fourth quarter.

Kings 131, Pistons 110

Domantas Sabonis notched a triple-double with 37 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds and visiting Sacramento defeated Detroit.

Keegan Murray supplied 32 points and De'Aaron Fox had 26 for the Kings, who finished the game on a 30-9 run. Malik Monk sparked Sacramento off the bench with 20 points and nine assists.

Bojan Bogdanovic led the Pistons with 26 points, while Jaden Ivey had 22 points and six assists. Jalen Duren added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Detroit, which has lost five straight, was playing for the first time since it learned that leading scorer Cade Cunningham would miss time with a left knee strain.

Timberwolves 113, Magic 92

Karl-Anthony Towns scored 28 points on 11-for-19 shooting and Minnesota cruised to a win over host Orlando.

Rudy Gobert registered a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds for Minnesota, which bounced back from a loss against the Dallas Mavericks two nights earlier. Jaden McDaniels finished with 15 points, and Naz Reid posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Moritz Wagner scored 21 points on 6-for-9 shooting off the bench to lead Orlando. Jalen Suggs tallied 20 points and Paolo Banchero scored 18.

Knicks 112, Trail Blazers 84

OG Anunoby scored 23 points as New York took control early and extended its winning streak to a season-high five games with a wire-to-wire rout of visiting Portland.

Julius Randle added 20 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in three quarters as the Knicks hit 18 threes, led by as many as 39 and allowed their fewest points of the season.

Jerami Grant scored 21 points for the Trail Blazers, who dropped to 4-14 in their past 18 games. Portland shot 38.4 percent and scored its fewest points of the season.

Grizzlies 120, Mavericks 103

Desmond Bane collected 32 points and nine rebounds to lift visiting Memphis over Dallas.

Marcus Smart scored 23 points before exiting in the third quarter after dislocating a finger on his right hand. The undermanned Grizzlies played without stars Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) and Ja Morant (season-ending shoulder injury).

Kyrie Irving finished with 33 points, eight rebounds and four steals and Luka Doncic added 31 points for the Mavericks, who fell to 3-1 on their season-long seven-game homestand. The pair combined to make just 4 of 15 attempts from 3-point range.
