Obituary
George “Buster” K. Dyer, 88, of
Atlanta, passed away at his home on Wednesday,
January 10, 2024.
Services for Buster will be held on Thursday,
January 18, 2024, at the Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home
in Atlanta. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. –
11:00 a.m. with funeral services led by Rev. Deborah
J. Johnston beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will
follow at the Atlanta Cemetery.
George Keith Dyer was born May 26, 1935, in Lincoln,
the son of George W. and Lela Saddler Dyer. He was
united in marriage to Marjory L. Wilson on February
27, 1960. She survives.
Buster is also survived by their children: George D.
(Laura) Dyer, Susanne M (David) Kersey, Michael W.
Dyer, and Kent T. Dyer; five grandchildren: Lindsey
(Junhwi Heo) Dyer, Raelynne Guster, Christian
(Michelle) Kersey, Dezerae (Trent) Deis, and
Danyelle (Ben) Dolan; eight great-grandchildren:
Kaizyn, Aviarra, Lila, Silas, Lawrence, Everly,
Elliotte, and Emelia; and one sister, Dorothy L.
(Phillip) Knoepel.
He was preceded in death by his parents. |
Buster was a 1953 graduate of Atlanta
High School and served in the United States Army. He
worked for Funk Seed Company and farmed for 15 years
in Iowa. He also worked in research for Syngenta.
Always active in the community, Buster was a member
of the Atlanta United Methodist Church, Atlanta
Methodist Men, Atlanta Community Band, Atlanta
American Legion Post #341, Atlanta Lions Club,
served on the Hawes Elevator Board, and volunteered
at the Atlanta Museum. He loved visiting Hawaii and
Puerto Rico, playing pinochle and bridge, rooting
for the Cardinals, listening to Big Band Music,
square dancing, doing crossword puzzles, and
researching family history and genealogy.
Memorials may be made to the Atlanta United
Methodist Church, Atlanta Betterment Fund, or
Atlanta Fire Department.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley
Funeral Home of Atlanta.
