Jahmir Young pumped in 28 points and Julian Reese added 20 as
Maryland continued its recent dominance of No. 10 Illinois with a
76-67 Big Ten Conference upset on Sunday in Champaign, Ill.
Reese added 11 rebounds as the Terrapins (11-6, 3-3 Big Ten) owned
the lane. They outscored the Fighting Illini (12-4, 3-2) by a
whopping 52-26 margin in the paint, more than offsetting 4-of-17
3-point shooting and the fact that Illinois made more free throws
(19) than Maryland shot (17).
Marcus Domask scored 26 points for Illinois and Luke Goode added 13,
but it wasn't quite enough. The Fighting Illini went ice-cold in the
second half, converting just 9 of 40 attempts from the field and
only 1 of 14 from beyond the 3-point line.
Illinois controlled most of the first 12 minutes, but a trend
developed. Although Maryland trailed by as many as nine points, it
was able to attack the Illini inside, a feat few opponents have been
able to mimic. Illinois' defense against 2-point shots has been
among the best in Division I.
No. 4 UConn 80, Georgetown 67
Alex Karaban and Cam Spencer fueled a 3-point barrage that propelled
the Huskies past the Hoyas in Hartford, Conn.
Karaban made 6 of 8 shots from deep and matched his season high with
26 points, while Spencer drilled 5 of 7 triples and tallied 20
points for UConn (15-2, 5-1 Big East). Stephon Castle chipped in 14
points as the Huskies tied their season high with 13 3-pointers on
24 attempts (54.2 percent) to improve to 9-0 at home this season.
Supreme Cook paired 18 points with 13 rebounds to lead Georgetown
(8-9, 1-5) before fouling out with 6:23 remaining. Jay Heath fouled
out with 3:30 to play, finishing with 13 points, and Jayden Epps
tallied 16.

since leaving the Shockers' program in July. Walton led Wichita
State in scoring last season at 13.9 points per game.

State 63-40 after halftime and shot 64.7 percent for the game.

rebounds. FAU (13-4, 3-1 AAC) received 18 points from Vladislav
Goldin, while Jalen Gaffney had 10 points, seven rebounds and four
assists.
The Blazers (10-6, 2-1) saw their six-game winning streak come to an
