Obituary
Robert L Benedict, 77, of Lincoln
passed away at Carlinville Area Hospital on
Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, January
23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Cemetery with
Military Honors provided by American Legion Post
#263 of Lincoln.
He was born October 16, 1946 to Clarence Fred and
Ada Mae Kinney Benedict. He met and married the love
of his life, Dorothy Essingler on October 3, 1986.
She precedes him in death on August 7, 2022.
He was a lifelong Railer fan and loved to cheer his
grandson on at all the football games. He loved to
make people laugh and had the quick wit and humor to
do so. He loved to tell stories of his life growing
up in Lincoln and loved to talk music, current
events, and often spoke about his grandchildren whom
he loved more than anything. Grandpa was his
favorite title.

Bob graduated from the Lincoln
Community High School in 1966. He was a very proud
US Army Veteran where he served from 1966-1968 and
was a member of American Legion Post 263. He was
employed at Lehn and Fink for 27 years and then
Lincoln Development Center for 4 years.
He leaves behind his only daughter,
Annette Costa, three grandchildren Kalle, Payton and
Annistin, brother Gene (Kay) Benedict, several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, his mother, and
two brothers.
Memorials may be made to an education fund being set
up for his youngest grandchildren: Payton R Johnson
and Annistin M. Koester.
Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
