Pryor swished the first free throw and missed
the second, giving the Tigers (15-3, 4-1) a chance to pull off
the win. But Jahvon Quinerly, who hit consecutive game-winners
in the team's first two conference victories over Tulsa and SMU,
missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer as the final horn
blared.
South Florida senior Selton Miguel tied his career high with 23
points, going 5 of 10 from the 3-point arc. Chris Youngblood
added 13 points for the Bulls, who outscored Memphis 42-26 in
the second half. South Florida won for the eighth time in nine
games.
David Jones scored a game-high 25 points for the Tigers, who saw
their 10-game winning streak end. Quinerly added 15 and Tomlin
finished with 10, but Memphis made just 6 of 28 3-point attempts
(21.4 percent), including 2 of 15 (13.3 percent) in the second
half.
No. 14 Illinois 88, Michigan 73
Coleman Hawkins registered 21 points, 10 rebounds and six steals
as the Fighting Illini pulled away for a win over the Wolverines
in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Quincy Guerrier scored 16 points and pulled down 14 rebounds for
Illinois (13-4, 4-2 Big Ten), which bounced back from a loss to
Maryland in its previous game. Ty Rodgers and Marcus Domask
finished with 15 points apiece.
Tarris Reed Jr. scored 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting to lead
Michigan (7-11, 2-5). Olivier Nkamhoua scored 16 points, and Dug
McDaniel contributed 14.
No. 23 Florida Atlantic 86, Wichita State 77
Alijah Martin scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half, the
Owls overcame double-digit deficits in both halves and Florida
Atlantic rallied past the Shockers in Boca Raton, Fla.
The Owls (14-4, 4-1 American) got 19 points, seven rebounds and
six assists from Johnell Davis. Vladislav Goldin totaled 17
points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
Colby Rogers and Quincy Ballard tallied 18 points apiece for
Wichita State (8-9, 0-4), which lost its sixth straight game and
fell for the eighth time in nine outings.
