[January 11, 2024]  LINCOLN - Harold Sanders, 96, of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at St. Clara’s Rehab and Senior Care.

Visitation:  9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service:  11 a.m. Friday, January 19th at the funeral home

Obituary

Harold Sanders, 96, of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at St. Clara’s Rehab and Senior Care.

Harold was born January 9, 1928, in Clinton, the son of William and Bernadine (Lane) Sanders. He married Dorothy Lawler on December 11, 1955, in Lincoln.

Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children, Debra DeJarnette of Cypress, TX, Bill (DeeDee) Sanders of Athens, Cyndi (Harold “Gene”) Dennis of Lincoln, and Jim (Chris) Sanders of Springfield; his grandchildren, Marni (Moe) Ary, Erika (Justin) Sipka, Chad Sanders, Miranda, Haleigh, and Chloe Sanders, and Marlaina Jones; his great-grandchildren, McKinleigh, Izayah, and Kaydee Sipka, Ryleigh Ary, and Devon and Zachary Jones; and one great-great-granddaughter, Delilah Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Sparks; and his brother, Adron Sanders.

 

Harold proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln; as well as The Amvets, the American Legion Post #263, and The Eagles Lodge #2708. Harold enjoyed spending winters in Florida, camping, bowling, golf, and he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Most of all, Harold enjoyed spending time with his family.

Services for Harold will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will take place two hours prior from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln where there will be full military honors.

Memorials may be made in Harold’s name to The American Cancer Society, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, or The Oasis Senior Center.
