The
Lady Toppers defeated Sangamon Valley/Tri-City 58-11 on Senior Night
last Thursday evening.
The game began with the two teams agreeing to let Mt. Pulaski senior
Grace Davis have the first basket of the game. Davis is scheduled
for surgery this week for a torn ACL. After the tip won by the Lady
Toppers, Davis did score the first basket before exiting the game
and the Storm were also allowed to score a basket so the game was an
even 2-2.
Mt. Pulaski went on an 18-0 run after that. Alyson Murphy poured in
eight points and Addison Brown connected for two 3s to lead the
first quarter scoring. At the end of the first quarter the score was
20-2.
With seven players scoring for Mt. Pulaski in the second quarter,
the game was heavily in favor of the Lady Toppers with a 41-4 lead.
Brown tossed in two more 3s in the third quarter to guide Mt.
Pulaski to a 49-9 lead.
It was a running clock in the fourth quarter for Mt. Pulaski. The
seniors had a great reason to be happy, picking up a 58-11 win over
the Storm.
As a team, Mt. Pulaski made nine 3s on the night, with freshman
Addison Brown sinking five of them.
Alyson Murphy led Mt, Pulaski in scoring with 17 points.
Addison Brown hit double-figures with 15 points.
Mt. Pulaski’s record is now 19-7 on the season.
The seniors honored before the game were:
Ella Bobell
Mackenzi Chandler
Kamrie Charron
Grace Davis
Mt. Pulaski Head Coach Ryan McVickers had these words for each of
his seniors:
“Ella - tough and scrappy - she knows her role and works her butt
off. She really takes pride in her defense and doing the “little
things” to help us win.”

players with their parents from the left: Ella Bobell, Kenzi
Chandler, Kamrie Charron and Grace Davis
“Kenz - she’s gone from the sixth man last year to
one of our main scoring options. She put the work in this summer and
it’s really showing this year with her confidence. Whenever she
shoots it, I think it’s going in!”
“Kamrie - after sitting out last year, I am SO
happy she decided to play again this year. She is our “big” listed
at 5’4 but plays MUCH bigger than that. She comes in every day ready
to work hard and always gives us 100% in practice and games.”
“Grace - I know this season has been extremely difficult for her.
She had started every game since her freshman year. As much as we
have missed Grace on the floor she has been a GREAT leader by using
her experience to help and more importantly cheer on her teammates.”
Congratulations, ladies!
Mt. Pulaski will play at Decatur St. Teresa Tuesday night.
The JV game is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m. and the Varsity game
