[July 02, 2024]  LINCOLN - Virgil William Barrigear Sr., 83, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Graveside Service:  1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln

Obituary

Virgil William Barrigear Sr., 83, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Virgil was born April 7, 1941, in Augusta, IL, the son of William and Goldie Barrigear.

Virgil is survived by his estranged son, Virgil W. Barrigear Jr.; nieces, Linda Kay Dickey of Decatur, Nancey (Doug) Diemer of Zeeland, MI; and Sandy Dickey of Lincoln, nephews, Willis L. (Michelle) Dickey of Stonington, Eugene (Jennifer) Dickey of Pana, and Jeffrey Dickey of Anna, and lots of great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Oscar Barrigear, Eugene Barrigear, Linda Dickey, Earnest Barrigear, Gaylord Barrigear, Joe Casley, Reuben Lang, Cora Lang; and sister-in-law, Marilyn TerHaar.

Virgil enjoyed fishing, biking, family time, and most of all he was a diehard Cardinals fan.

A graveside service for Virgil will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln.

Memorials may be made in Virgil’s name to his family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
