[July 11, 2024]  LINCOLN - Marcus “Marc” Wendt, 74, of Lincoln passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Visitation:  9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Lincoln Christian Church

Service:  11 a.m. Thursday, July 25 at the church

Marcus “Marc” Wendt, 74, of Lincoln passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Marc was born March 11, 1950, in Peoria, the son of Henry and Lorraine (Armstrong) Wendt. He married Sandra Ackley on February 25, 1978, in Mason City. She survives.

Marc is also survived by his son, Justin Thies; grandchildren, Megan (Michael) Bantz and Brooke (Evan) Eimer; six great-grandchildren, Chance, Chloe, Maci, Kayden, Piper, and Easton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jeffrey Wendt.

Marc proudly served in the US Army. After his dedicated service he became a proponent of veterans and the organizations that helped others who have served their country. He worked as a postal worker for 32 years. Marc was a member of Lincoln Christian Church, the Masons, and the Scottish Rite. Marc loved sports, especially his beloved Cardinals and Raiders.

A memorial service for Marc will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Lincoln Christian Church. A visitation will take place two hours prior from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. also at the church. The burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Memorials may be made in Marcus’ name to Marine Corp League Detachment #1336.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
