Obituary

B. Minott (Dobe) Wilkinson, 66 of Lincoln passed away July 10, 2024, after a courageous four-year battle with Laryngeal cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Minott was born November 28, 1957, in Kewanee to Charles and Margaret (Hughes) Wilkinson. He graduated from NCHS in Normal, Illinois in 1975.

He married Donna Jean Leeper, his high school sweetheart on November 17, 1979. They had two children Charles (Kelly Riesselman) Wilkinson of Lincoln and Emily (Brandon) Welch of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren Zoey and Charles Wilkinson; and Damian and Alexis Welch.

Minott followed in his father and brother's footsteps by becoming a bricklayer. He joined Bricklayers Local #19 in June 1977 and later Bricklayers Local #6. Examples of his craftsmanship may be seen in the construction of several buildings in central Illinois. These include State Farm Corporate and South, OSF St. Joseph and BroMenn Hospitals, Illinois State, Illinois Wesleyan, Normal West High School and several grade schools, Clinton Power Plant, many Walgreens and area churches.

Minott enjoyed playing sports throughout his youth and early adult life, as well as watching his children and grandchildren excel in their own sports. He would say that he was “button-popping-proud” of them all!

He is survived by his wife, Donna, their two children, and grandchildren; his sister Marilyn (Randy) Cook and sister-in-law, Sandy Wilkinson; as well as his nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wilkinson was proceeded in death by his mother and father and his brothers, Charles and George Wilkinson.
