[July 29, 2024]  BLOOMINGTON - Maria Carmen Bailey, 77, of Bloomington, IL, formerly of Lincoln, originally from Madrid, Spain, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at her home.

Service:  10:00 am on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church of Merna in Bloomington

Graveside Service:  Thursday at noon at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln

Funeral home: Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Lincoln    Mt. Pulaski

Obituary

Maria Carmen Bailey, 77, of Bloomington, IL, formerly of Lincoln, originally from Madrid, Spain, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at her home.

Maria was born July 16, 1947, in Madrid, Spain, the daughter of Mariano de las Heras and Angela Garcia. She married Howard Bailey on April 4, 1964, in Madrid, Spain. He preceded her in death.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Angela (Uzay Togay) Bailey; son, Robert (Jennifer) Bailey; grandchildren, Evan, Aleck, Uzay, Aitor, and Erik; and her siblings, Mariano (Ana Mari), Teresa, Maria Jesus, and Adelina de las Heras.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Howard.

 

Maria enjoyed spending a lot of her time with family and friends. She liked knitting baby outfits and Zumba classes. Maria loved lively conversation and music. She was a devoted Catholic.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church of Merna in Bloomington. A graveside service will take place at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lincoln. Memorials may be made in Maria’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
