David Robertson, Josh Sborz and Kirby Yates
each worked an inning for Texas, with Yates earning his 19th
save in as many opportunities.
Matt Carpenter hit a two-run homer for the Cardinals, who have
lost 10 of their past 16 games.
St. Louis starter Andre Pallante (4-5) allowed three runs on
seven hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out five.
Texas took a 1-0 lead in the third. With two outs, Josh Smith
kept the inning alive by reaching on a dribbler that Pallante
failed to field with his bare hand. Smith advanced to second on
a wild pitch and scored on Corey Seager's double.
The Cardinals responded in the bottom of the inning to take a
2-1 lead. Paul Goldschmidt led off with a single, and Carpenter
followed with his two-run homer.
The Rangers moved ahead 3-2 in the fourth inning. Wyatt Langford
hit a leadoff single, Lowe reached on a one-out infield single
and Ezequiel Duran blooped a single to center to load the bases.
Jonah Heim hit an RBI single and Leody Taveras brought home a
run with a groundout before Pallante coaxed an inning-ending
groundout from Smith.
Marcus Semien opened the top of the seventh with a double and
continued to third on an error. He scored when Adolis Garcia
reached on another error, then Lowe smacked his two-run homer to
put the Rangers up 6-2.
The Cardinals got a run back in the bottom of the frame. Nolan
Arenado, Lars Nootbaar and Goldschmidt hit singles to load the
bases with nobody out.
Robertson came in for Eovaldi and allowed Michael Siani's
one-out RBI single before getting Masyn Winn to line into an
inning-ending double play.
