Cominsky was rolled up on during a running play
in the team's second practice with pads at training camp. He is
expected to be out indefinitely following surgery, with the
possibility of returning if the Lions reach the postseason,
according to the reports.
The 28-year-old is entering his sixth season in the league and
third in Detroit, where he started 11 of his 16 games last
season and collected 36 tackles and two sacks. He played 569
snaps, which was 56 percent of the team's defensive plays.
Cominsky started all three of the Lions' playoffs games and
totaled seven tackles.
The Atlanta Falcons selected Cominsky in the fourth round of the
2019 NFL Draft, and he totaled 41 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 27
games (one start) from 2019-21. After his release, Cominsky
signed with Detroit and started eight of his 14 games and made
30 tackles and four sacks in 2022.
Detroit reserve guard Netane Muti sustained a left shoulder
injury during practice on Tuesday. Muti, 25, played in two games
last season for the Las Vegas Raiders, and in 20 games (four
starts) for the Denver Broncos from 2020-22.
