Lincoln Emblem Club
#433 supported their Americanism, Literacy, Community Service, and
Scholarship project efforts recently through their monthly
donations.

The club contributed $500 to the Hope
on 5th project to promote community services and provide shelter to
central Illinois veterans, homeless and those at risk of
homelessness.

The Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois Head Start
project was given $200 to promote literacy for children. Emblem Club
members collect “Pennies from Heaven” at each meeting for this
donation.

The club donated $500 to the Land of
Lincoln Honor Flight which provides WWII, Korean Era and Vietnam Era
veterans a round trip to Washington DC to visit their memorials.

Birthday Party in a Bag kits were
donated to CAPCIL pantry. Each kit comes with decorations, cake mix,
and instructions on how to bake a cake using just 7-Up.

The 2024 Lincoln Emblem Club
scholarship winners were announced. First place was awarded to Jane
Spellman, granddaughter of Karen Dellow. Jane is a second time
winner and received $1500 in honor of Lee Rust and $500 in honor of
Diane Farmer. Second place was awarded to Erin Peterson, daughter of
Brittney Peterson and granddaughter of Mitzie Welsh. Erin is a
second time winner and received $1500. Lincoln Emblem Club awards
scholarships to children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews of
Emblem Club members. The winner also competes at the state and
national level for additional scholarships. |
