John was born November 10, 1943, in Lincoln, the son

was involved in the choir, 4-H, and FFA, graduated
from Lincoln College, and then from Southern
Illinois University at Carbondale where he majored
in forestry and agronomy. He was a livestock and
grain farmer. John enjoyed arrowhead hunting,
forestry, geology, guns, and knives. He was a member
of several farm organizations, the NFO, NRA, and
participated in the tractorcade to Washington DC in
the 1970's. He was an active member of St. John
United Church of Christ, serving on the church
