Gauff, the 2023 U.S. Open singles champion,
lost both of her previous Grand Slam doubles finals at Roland
Garros in 2022 and the U.S. Open in 2021.
"Third time's a charm. Thank you, Katerina, for playing with
me," Gauff said. "We decided two days before the tournament to
play together. Thank you to the fans. I know 11:30 Sunday
morning is early for most people. It's early for me."
Gauff was the only player who didn't lose her serve in the
1-hour, 47-minute match. Gauff and Siniakova trailed 5-4 in the
first set and fell behind 5-3 in the tiebreak before rallying.
Gauff and Siniakova dropped only one set in the tournament.
Paolini also finished runner-up in the singles competition,
losing to Poland's Iga Swiatek on Saturday.
