The
Hunt For Foundation (HFF) is delighted to announce the hosting of
our 5th Annual Juneteenth Festival, and we extend a warm invitation
to join us in this celebration of community, culture, and progress.
The Hunt for Foundation hosts the annual event as various
backgrounds unite to promote equality, social justice and create
opportunities of inclusiveness in our community. The Hunt For
Foundation welcomes you, family, and friends to join in the
celebrating of true American history.
Juneteenth is the nation’s newest federal holiday, honoring the
occasion in June of 1865 when Union troops reached the far reaches
of Texas to finally inform slaves they were free. Congress and
President Biden officially made Juneteenth a holiday in 2021.
The Juneteenth Festival, scheduled to take place on
Wednesday, June 19th, from 4pm-8pm at Latham Park in Lincoln,
Illinois, promises to be an unforgettable event filled with live
music, children’s programs and activities, a vendor fair, and a
cookout. Attendees can also look forward to engaging competitions,
including contests for the best sweet potato pie, pound cake, rib
tips, and brisket. Details for signups can be found at the
registration links included below.
Additionally, The Juneteenth planning committee is currently seeking
area young people to portray historical figures at the event, and to
tell the stories of individuals who have contributed to the wealth
of African-American history. Event planners are interested
specifically in seeking past students who have presented monologues
for the annual Civil War Student History Walk at the Lincoln
Heritage Museum. However, the opportunity is open to any young
person. Interested individuals are asked to contact
huntforfoundation@gmail.com as soon as possible.

As part of our festival lineup,
we have organized a series of events leading up to the main
celebration:
• Wednesday, June 12: Soul Yoga at 6pm at The Moksha Center.
Experience meditation, sound baths, and yoga accompanied by
soulful music. Tickets are available for sale.
• Saturday, June 29: B.A.P.P.S. Pageant and Silent Auction from
12pm-3pm at the Lincoln Arts Institute. This empowering event
showcases inner beauty and fosters confidence and education
among participants. The silent auction will be held during
intermission of the pageant. We are still accepting contestants.
In addition to the pageant, we are accepting donations for the
silent auction.
We are also still accepting
sponsorships, vendors, and volunteers for the Juneteenth Festival.
We believe that your involvement in our event would greatly
contribute to its success and help us spread awareness about the
importance of Juneteenth and the continued pursuit of equality and
justice.
