Obituary

Gary L. Parn, 79, of Lincoln, passed away June 6, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. There will be no services at this time.

Gary was born August 26, 1944 in Pea Ridge Illinois, the son of Harold H. Parn and Anna Marie (Gherkin) Parn. He married Christine Yeates on December 21, 1969.

Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed watching and playing fast pitch baseball. He owned a quality handyman service that specialized in construction, lawncare, and landscaping. His family describes him as the greatest man that ever lived. He never met a stranger, was funny, very social, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. “Since before any of us were born, God planned for us to share our lives together.. He knew we would laugh together and cry together. He knew we needed each other... to hug, to help, to teach, to serve...to Love.”

Survivors include his wife Chris Parn, son David Parn, daughter Denise Goble; grandchildren: Cassidy Bruns, Kolton Cody, Korbin Cody, Julian Lee, and Ethyn Parn; brothers Niles Parn and Tony Parn, and siter Janice Pern; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Lori Cody, brother Howard Parn, and sisters Juanita Anderson, Carol Durfee, and Irma Yates.

Memorial donations may be made to the family.
