At the Tuesday night voting session of the Logan County Board, members approved a motion for the expenses to be incurred in removing the large steel I-beams and scaffolding from the Logan County Courthouse starting July 4th

Board member Jim Wessbecher said that the last time the scaffolding was scheduled to be removed the weather predictions of severe storms stopped the process. Currently he is hopeful that this time the weather will cooperate.

A large crane will be moved into town and the beams will be taken off the dome. If the weather forecast is not favorable, the crane will not come and the project will be delayed again.

Wessbecher was asked about the rent for the scaffolding and he said that the county stopped paying rent on the scaffolding as soon as the project was pronounced done. Therefore, it is not costing extra for the delays.

The board approved work starting on the 4th of July and running through July 7th, but Wessbecher said it could take less time if all goes well.

The upgrades are now complete and owners Keith and Vicky Hasprey are anxious to celebrate with the community, the re-opening of the popular location in town.

The community is invited to a ribbon cut and grand re-opening event on Saturday, June 22nd starting at noon.

If the goal of the Community Association of Mt. Pulaski in hosting the Second Friday on the Square events during the summer months is to bring people out for a fun relaxing evening, then goal achieved!

The Second Friday event for June was very well attended, and it was good to see people gathering, relaxing, visiting with old friends, making new ones and generally speaking being a part of the community of Mt. Pulaski.

See more from the June Second Friday on the Square in today's edition of Lincoln Daily News.
