			Heartland students headed to National 
			SkillsUSA Competition

			  Three Heartland Community College students 
			will be demonstrating their hands-on job skills in national 
			competition. 
			Andy Irving, Tallon Short, and Nick Mock will 
			represent Illinois at the SkillsUSA National Championship held in 
			Georgia on June 24-28. |

			 Irving, 
			Short, and Mock were among the Heartland students who placed with 
			impressive finishes in the Illinois Elite Career Competitions 
			Championships held in Peoria earlier this spring. 
 Heartland’s state student award winners are:
 
 Andy Irving: 1st in Telecommunications Cabling
 
 Tallon Short: 1st in T-Shirt Design
 
 Matthew Marciniak and Nick Mock: 2nd in Mechatronics
 
 Nick Mock: 2nd in Industrial Motor Control
 
 Laney Hoeft: 4th in Criminal Justice
 
 SkillsUSA is a national organization for students preparing for 
			careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations.

				 Students compete at the SkillsUSA 
				Illinois State Championships doing hands-on demonstrations of 
				skills in more than 100 different trade, technical and 
				leadership fields.
 With participation in the organization student have the 
				opportunity to show off their employability and participate in 
				leadership training. SkillsUSA has over 600 national partners 
				that include businesses, trade associations and unions.
