For
the 2024 Spring season the Illinois High School Clay Target League
offered four events for schools to participate in: Trap, Skeet,
Sporting Clays and Five Stand Sporting Clays.
Mount Pulaski was the only High School to compete in every event.
The league places competitors in a conference based on the roster
size and number of schools competing in each event. Mount Pulaski
was able to finish first in their assigned conference during the
regular season in Trap, Skeet and Five Stand Sporting Clays.
They finished 3rd in the Sporting Clays conference. There were 38
kids register for Trap, 33 register for skeet, 12 for Sporting Clays
and 8 in Five Stand Sporting.
At the Tournament each athlete shoots at 100 targets, they take your
top 5 scores and the team with the highest total is the winner.
For the Skeet Tournament Mt. Pulaski broke 469/500 targets.
Clay Leonard 95/100
Kyle Martin 95/100
Jameson Lowe 94/100
Jackson Geriets 93/100
Hawken Clampet 92/100
Effingham High School finished 2nd with a 453/500 and Staunton High
School finished 3rd with a 438/500.
Every year the number of schools competing in trap continues to
grow. Due to this growth the state Trap Tournament was divided into
two classes and held on June 1 (class 1a) and June 2 (class 2a).
[to top of second column] |
Mt. Pulaski competed in 2a this year because of our
large roster size. We were able to break 484/500 and finished second
behind Teutopolis High Schools 485/500. Effingham High School
finished in 3rd with 481/500.
The Mount Pulaski top five scores:
Alec Martin 99/100
Beau Tschantz 98/100
Hayden Hartman 97/100
Hawken Clampet 95/100
Owen Pulliam 95/100
Mount Pulaski has had some good success in the shotgun sports since
we started the program in 2017.
