Many know that Logan Lanes has been around for
several years, and the current owners Keith and Vickie Hasprey have
owned it since 2000. They began as partners in the business with
another couple, but eventually bought those two out and took over
sole ownership of the popular business.
Keith Hasprey said it was never his intention to own a bowling
alley, it just seemed to happen. He explained that he came to
Lincoln from California because Vickie was from this area and wanted
to live at home. After moving here, a couple of his friends in
California decided to come too, and they were the ones who started
out wanting to own the bowling alley. Keith said he was more
interested in construction, and his big accomplishment in that line
of work was the Legends Subdivision north of Lincoln. He said he
spent sixteen years building up that subdivision but it is now
finished. Wife Vickie is involved in her family’s business, Family
Custom Cleaners in town.
In spite of not intending to own a bowling alley, the Hasprey’s have
thrown themselves into it and are working toward keeping the
business fresh and viable.
Early this spring, the bowling alley was shut down
for about three weeks for some much needed improvements on the
lanes. Hasprey said he had new synthetic flooring installed on the
lanes and also installed new ball returns. Keeping up with the times
and modern trends in this business is important to keeping customers
happy and extending the longevity of the business.
Hasprey was asked about the synthetic lanes, why that was an
improvement over the old wood floors. He said in a sentence, the
synthetic floors are virtually indestructible. For the hard-core
bowlers who throw those balls fast and furious, this makes for a
smoother roll toward the pins, with no grooves or dents from the
ball lobbers that throw the ball off course and cost the bowler a
would-be strike.
From a visual perspective, the synthetic lanes look just like the
traditional wood floors, but they will last for years to come, which
should make all the bowlers in the community quite happy.
Hasprey said that other improvements have been made as well, and he,
Vickie and staff are in the process of updating the offerings from
the bar and grill.
In addition to bowling, Logan Lanes offers a party/meeting room good
for birthday parties or club meetings. There is the golf simulator
room, pool tables and an arcade, making Logan Lanes a great place to
spend an afternoon or evening enjoying a variety of activities.
On Saturday Keith and Vickie were joined behind the
ribbon by staff members D.J. Maxheimer, Erin Robins, Chad Tungate,
Jessy Patton and Lindsey Maxheimer. Lincoln Alderpersons Kevin
Bateman and Wanda Lee Rohlfs, along with Lincoln City Clerk Peggy
Bateman joined them behind the ribbon with Karen Castelein and
Richard Smith holding the ribbon.

Mayor Tracy Welch was unable to attend, so Bateman
addressed the group as an alderman and the Mayor Pro Tem for the
city of Lincoln. He said that he is very familiar with Logan Lanes
and used to be a regular there. He said it is good to see business
owners investing in their properties and improving the experience
for their patrons. He also mentioned that he brings his grandson
bowling, and he knows it is a worthwhile activity.
Alderwoman Rohlfs also spoke, noting first that as a
retired teacher, she remembers the days when Vickie was one of her
students. She said that yes it is good to see the bowling alley
keeping up with modern times. She added that she knows there is a
lot offered inside, and it is a good answer to people who say there
is nothing to do in Lincoln. She said it is important to the
citizens of the community to have activities and entertainment, and
the bowling alley answers that call.
Finally, before snipping the ribbon Keith Hasprey
talked about the improvements to the bowling alley saying that it
would improve the experience for bowlers. He expressed appreciation
for the support he had Vickie have gotten and are looking forward to
having bowlers enjoy the new upgrades.
With speeches concluded, the group photo was taken
then at the countdown Keith and Vickie snipped the ribbon on the
grand re-opening of their business.
