As
part of its commitment to accessibility, the Abraham Lincoln
Presidential Library and Museum will offer special services for the
Deaf community on the afternoon of World Hearing Day.
From 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, sign language interpreters will be
present throughout the museum to assist guests. Interpreters will
also sign theatrical presentations as they are running. Visitors
will be able to scan QR codes letting them see closed-captioned
videos on their handheld devices.
Admission will be free to all visitors during the two-hour special
event, which is part of the ALPLM’s “Abe for All” initiative.
“Everyone deserves to learn about Abraham Lincoln’s accomplishments
and his continuing impact on America. That means the Abraham Lincoln
Presidential Library and Museum has a duty to make its campus as
inclusive as possible,” said the ALPLM’s executive director,
Christina Shutt.
