Executive staff of the Christian Village welcomed guests to an Outpatient Therapy Open House in the former skilled nursing care building on their campus on Thursday afternoon.

Julie King welcomed visitors and introduced them to staff from Aegis Therapies who are collaborating with the Christian Village onsite to provide physical, occupational, and speech therapies to both residents and to community members. Although located on the Christian Village campus, the Outpatient Therapy Services “will operate as any outpatient clinic,” according to Program Manager Carole Vossmeyer, who is based in St. Louis. She said that Aegis Therapies began providing services in Lincoln at the Christian Village on January 2 and are now “getting the word out.”

Representatives from Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Home Health Care, and Senator Sally Turner’s office toured the facility and talked with therapists at the beginning of the open house. Physical therapist Nancy Frampton and Aegis Therapies Area Manager Kim Williams, along with Vossmeyer, were on hand to welcome visitors and answer any questions. Frampton has 29 years of experience as a physical therapist and has worked at the Christian Village for the past seven. Williams manages Aegis sites in Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, and Nebraska.

The Aegis therapists will accept patients for 60-minute appointments Monday through Friday. Physician orders are needed, but Aegis Therapies is able to help obtain orders and also help verify insurance. Medicare and Medicaid are accepted as well as some private insurance and certain VA coverage with doctor initiation. Although Aegis Therapies will not offer cardiac rehabilitation, they will offer many other therapies including stroke, ortho, balance and gait, transfer training, fall prevention, and general weakness, as well as diagnosis.

The therapy gym offers plenty of natural light, weights and exercise bands, stairs, cardio exercise machines, and parallel bars for practicing a variety of strengthening exercises. Lindsay Starcevic, Executive Director since September 2023 and Memory Care Director prior to the Memory Care unit’s closing stated that offering therapies like this had been discussed for many years. It had not been possible with the building configuration until the building’s use changed. Starcevic expressed her passion for working with senior populations and how she looks forward to rebuilding services such as these for senior citizens and community members of Lincoln.
