Heartland Community College Lincoln has a new space for students to gather, interact, and enjoy the out-of-classroom college experience.

The College held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the “Hawk Hangout,” a new student lounge space at the Heartland Community College Lincoln (HCCL) regional center located at 2201 Woodlawn Road in Lincoln.

The Hawk Hangout lounge includes a dining area that includes refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pod machine. Students are also able to unwind with a Nintendo Switch, puzzles and activities, and two lounging Super Sacs.

“The Hawk Hangout is another way to serve our Logan County area students,” said Heartland Community College Lincoln Director Jennifer Kirby. “This adds to our Hometown Hawks program, which seeks to connect our students in Logan County not only to each other through engagement opportunities but also with the many free student support services offered by the College. Co-curricular activities and engagement opportunities are an important part of the college experience, so we are excited to refurbish this space at our center.”

The Hawk Hangout also hosts a Food Share program, supported by the College’s Student Counseling Services, to assist students in situations of food insecurity.
