For the first time since the pandemic, the
Lincoln Park District is hosting Easter egg hunts for local kids,
but this time with a twist. Middle grade schoolers and older will
get their chance to hunt for candy-filled eggs… in the dark. |
Kids
ages 8 to 17 are invited to bring a flashlight and an Easter basket
to the driving range (next to the T-ball fields) on the grounds of
the Lincoln Park District Complex to hunt for candy treasure. Two
egg hunts will take place on March 16, with March 17 set as a rain
date in the case of inclement weather.
Ages 8 through 12 are invited to their Easter egg hunt beginning at
7 p.m., and the egg hunt for ages 13 through 17 begins at 8 p.m. No
registration is required– just show up (and don’t forget your
flashlight)!
Program coordinator Allison Baker said that middle grade aged kids
are sometimes neglected in activities and programming, so she has
been looking to boost opportunities for this age group.
There are several Easter egg hunts in the area for
young children, so her goal is to provide an enjoyable activity for
the bigger kids. Other communities have had flashlight Easter egg
hunts for several years, so she thought it would be a fun idea to
try in Lincoln. [to top of second

Another new Easter activity this
year is fun for the whole family: Egg Hunt in Our Parks. During
the last week of March, the Park District will hide five giant
Easter eggs in the parks it oversees: Memorial Park (near the
playground), Exchange Club, Lehn and Fink, and the Playground at
the Park District Complex. Each egg will contain a slip of paper
and a T-shirt. The lucky hunters who find a giant Easter egg
should return the egg and the slip of paper to the front office
at the Park District Complex to claim a prize! For more
