A sunny Saturday brought hungry folks to Lincoln
Christian Church (LCC) last weekend for
The-Ultimate-All-You-Can-Eat-Breakfast annual fundraiser in support
of the LCC youth choirs. Proceeds from the breakfast go toward the
spring and summer tours of Heartsong (5th through 8th grade) and
Good News (9th through 12 grade) choirs.
All choir students are required to pitch in with the
work of serving and cleaning up the ultimate breakfast to support
their choir tours.
Delicious aromas wafted through the LCC Fellowship
Center while people waited in line for fresh pancakes, crispy bacon,
scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, biscuits & gravy, orange
juice, and iced tea. Carry outs were also available. Attendees had
only themselves to blame if they left still hungry.
Choir director and LCC Worship Minister Laurin Hill
said, “There was a really good turn out. Seven hundred and
fifty-nine people.”

Many choir parents and other sponsors could be found
manning the griddle and washing dishes. “We appreciated everyone
helping out,” Hill said. Preparations had been made to serve the
food safely with Lincoln’s extended boil order last week, but
fortunately the order was lifted Friday evening.
Heartsong’s portion of the proceeds will help support their spring
tour to the St. Louis area from April 19th to 21st. They will be
presenting their concert “Sticky Notes and Bible Quotes” and leading
worship for both services at Community Christian Church in Alton, IL
and they will also perform for a nursing home in Godfrey, IL.
Heartsong has 33 students and will travel with 14 adult sponsors.
Good News will be embarking on a nine day tour June
4-11 with their musical production “My Story, God’s Glory.” Good
News includes the high school student choir, T.R.A.S.H (a percussion
ensemble using found objects of metal and plastic), and a drama
team. They will have concerts in Illinois, South Carolina, Florida,
Georgia, and Tennessee with a fun day off from their seven concerts
at Disney World. They will fill their tour bus with 31 students and
12 adult sponsors.
Hill states that “The 2024 edition of Good News is excited to join
the legacy of traveling student ensembles from Lincoln Christian
Church sharing the good news of Jesus’ love in 43 states across the
United States and Canada since 1971.” Hill describes this year’s
Good News concert as “a relevant message for all ages that will
encourage and uplift.” The production “takes a look at how God
intersects with our lives every day– no matter where we have been or
what we have done.”
Heartsong will be performing a home concert on Sunday, April 21 at
4:00 p.m. at Lincoln Christian Church. Good News will kick off their
9 day tour with a home concert at LCC on Monday, June 3 at 7:00
p.m., and there will be a second nearby opportunity to see them at
their final concert hosted by Williamsville Christian Church in
Williamsville on Tuesday, June 11 at 7:00 p.m.
The-Ultimate-All-You-Can-Eat-Breakfast in support of LCC’s student
choirs happens every year during the first week of March, and they
welcome everyone who enjoys a good breakfast.
