That’s a winner!
The Lincoln Railsplitters defeated Tri-Valley 3-2 on Wednesday
afternoon at Mike Curry Field.
Sophomore Carson Fuiten (1-0) earned the win for Lincoln. Fuiten
worked six and one-third innings, allowing six hits and two runs,
both unearned. He struck out one batter. Fuiten threw 76 pitches, 51
were strikes.
Ashton Corley earned the save in relief. Corley pitched to the final
two batters of the game, recording a strikeout and then a fly out to
center fielder Colbie Glenn to end the game.
The Railsplitters got the offense rolling early in the first inning,
with back-to-back doubles by Colbie Glenn and Michael Lucas to score
the first run. After Griffin Shaw’s two-out single in the inning,
Lincoln was on top 2-0.

Lincoln added a run in the bottom of the third
inning when Trey Schilling scored on an error by the second baseman.
Fuiten cruised through the first five innings with a 3-0 lead and
like his great-uncle, “Bobby V” said, “The Railsplitters defense is
tremendous.”
And it was, until the top of the sixth inning.
A single and three errors in the inning resulted in Tri-Valley
scoring two runs.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Vikings
threatened to score as two guys reached base on singles. Corley was
able to escape any further damage, leaving the tying run stranded at
third base as Lincoln edged Tri-Valley 3-2.
The Railsplitters were outhit 6-4 by the Vikings.
Colbie Glenn, Michael Lucas, Brenden Wurth and Griffin Shaw recorded
hits for Lincoln.
Jason Decker was the losing pitcher for Tri-Valley.
Lincoln will play at Olympia on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
