And the winner is......

Kloe Froebe was standing at her school locker before P.E. Class on Thursday morning when she decided to check her phone and see if the announcement had been made yet for the Gatorade Illinois Girls Basketball Player of the Year. She said she knew to check her phone based on a countdown to the announcement that Coach Taylor Rohrer had previously mentioned to her. Froebe said when she saw her name as the winner she immediately showed her phone to Jenna Bowman to make sure that it really was her. Along with Bowman, Froebe was joined by fellow early bird students and teammates, Taryn Stoltzenburg and Becca Heitzig, when she read the news. Then it was off to get the school day started!

After school Froebe was able to see her family for a hot minute before she joined her friends at the softball field to cheer on the centerfielder, Taryn Stoltzenburg.

A rather low key day for the superstar student-athlete who just happens to be ranked no. 1 in her class. As for the elite basketball honor, Froebe has made history once again, this time as the first athlete from Lincoln Community High School to win the prestigious Gatorade award.

Congratulations, Kloe!
