Mark Your Calendars, the Lincoln Public Library Has Lots to Offer
Escape room, Easter bags, LEGOs, and the Peep diaramas all in time for spring Easter Break

Hey spring breakers, the Lincoln Public Library will be hosting an amazingly STRANGE escape room experience for 6th – 12th graders on March 22 and March 29 at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Help Will Byers find his way out of the Upside Down before the Demogorgon gets him. Pick your date and time and call 217-732-5732 for reservations for you and four of your friends.

Kiddo’s kindergarten thru 5th grade, stop by the Library the week of March 25th to pick up your surprise Easter bag. Kids must be present when picking up a bag. There will be make-and-take crafts, coloring sheets, and more. There is a limited number, so get them while they are available.

The Lincoln Public Library is located at 725 Pekin St., with adult nonfiction and reference materials in the historic Carnegie Building. The Annex directly behind houses adult fiction and the Youth Services Department.

All library events are free and open to the public.

Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The week of March 25 – 30, the Library will have a STEM area set up with LEGOs, circuit sets, Ozobots, the foam dinosaur puzzle, a new library scavenger hunt, and more.

Don’t forget to drop off your PEEP Diorama by March 30 at the Annex Circulation Desk. This contest is for all ages. Dioramas should be 18” wide and 12” deep with no height limit. Your PEEP diorama theme must be appropriate for public viewing and the library has discretion to deem what is appropriate. Winners will be announced April 8th.

Starting April 1 you will be able to pick up your Solar Eclipse glasses at the library. The library will also have Eclipse make-and-take bags, for K-5th graders, with activities to prepare for the April 8th Solar Eclipse. Solar Eclipse glasses and make-and-take bags are available as long as supplies last.

Don’t forget story time every Wednesday morning at 10:00AM and 11:00AM through April 24. We sing, craft, and listen to stories. We also offer a mommy and baby group on the second and fourth Friday at 10:00AM through May. Don’t miss the fun.

Be sure to mark your calendar for Summer Reading Program registration. Registration begins on May 20th. This year’s theme is READ, RENEW, REPEAT. We have lots of fantastic activities planned for this summer, starting with a Foam Cannon on June 6.

CIRCULATION NEWS

Fix-It Lincoln – The Library now offers a new collection of books on maintenance, repair, and upkeep. The books include topics such as automobiles, homes, lawns, health care, musical instruments, boats, and much more. Funding for this grant was awarded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Secretary of State/Illinois State Library.

Links on our Website - Our website has links to many free services, such as Library On The Go, WorldCat, Khan Academy, the improved World Book Web, and our Ask A Librarian service, as well as various downloadable forms. Check out what’s new!

3M Cloud – This is our new ebook database, which is an addition to our existing Library On The Go database. Thousands of titles are available, with more being added weekly, and can be searched via our online catalog. You will need a PIN number to get started. Stop by our Circulation Department for easy instructions.

Zinio – An electronic magazine collection with hundreds of titles. Create your account with Zinio from our website and start reading. Stop by the Circulation Desk for more information.

Going on a trip? – The Circulation Staff can put a hold on any outstanding requests you may have so you will get them when you return. Just stop by and let the staff know your travel dates.


E-mails and text messages – Our computer program allows patrons to receive texts and/or
e-mails for notification of reserved items and overdue notices. If you are interested in this service, please talk to a member of our Circulation Staff.

PIN Numbers – Don’t forget to take advantage of a PIN number (password) for your account. With a PIN, you can search the entire POLARIS system, see what items you have out, and request and renew books from home.


Gift Certificates – Need a gift idea? You can purchase a one year Library card for an individual or complete family that lives out of the library district. We will provide a gift certificate for presenting, and the recipient can bring it in, along with a photo ID and proof of address to receive their own Library Card.


Book Clubs - The Annex Building Circulation Desk collects reading lists for all the Book Clubs in the area. So if you can’t remember what you read or what you are supposed to read, we have you covered.
