Mount Pulaski shuts out Unity Christian 15-0
Liam Smith pitches and hits to lead Toppers

Mount
Pulaski improved to 6-0 on the season with a 15-0 thumping of the
Unity Christian Lions on Thursday afternoon at home.
Liam Smith was dominant on the mound for the Hilltoppers, earning
the win, while working three innings. He allowed three hits, two
walks and struck out seven batters.
At the plate, Liam Smith led Mount Pulaski with a 3-for-3
performance and a run scored and an RBI.
After the six-run first inning, it was pretty clear this game could
get over quickly. Three walks, including the free base to the
lead-off hitter, Eric Cooper, and three hits in the opening inning
allowed the Hilltoppers to plate six runs. Liam Smith and Preston
Cowan had RBI singles in the inning and Luke Martin crushed an RBI
triple. Mount Pulaski also scored on an error and a wild pitch.
Mount Pulaski scored nine runs in the second inning that sealed the
fate of the Lions.

Landon Smith drove in a run with a triple while
Cowan and Carter Clark added run-scoring singles. Cooper’s inside
the park home run also brought home Franklin Wade and Cowan. Tyler
Cross batted in a run with a sacrifice fly and the Hilltoppers
scored their last run of the game on a wild pitch.
Liam Smith cruised through three innings and was
relieved on the mound by Jaeden Jackson.
Jackson pitched the fourth inning, facing four batters. He struck
out one and hit one batter, before retiring the final two batters on
pop outs.
The Hilltoppers won by the 15-run rule.
Mount Pulaski pounded out 12 hits versus the Lions.
Along with Liam Smith’s multi-hit game, Preston
Cowan was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Eric Cooper, Keoni Charron, Austin Kretzinger, Landon Smith, Ticker
Fitzpatrick, Luke Martin and Carter Clark each had one hit for Mount
Pulaski.
Mount Pulaski will host Clinton today at 4:30 p.m.
