The Railsplitters had four hits in the first
inning, starting with a lead-off double by Colbie Glenn. Michael
Lucas followed with an RBI single to score Glenn. With Brenden
Wurth getting the one-out walk, Drew Hayes moved the runners a
base with a single. The moment was just right for Trey Schilling
to drive home a couple runs with a double to left and the
Lincoln lead was quickly 3-0.
The Railsplitters plated three more runs in the bottom of the
fourth inning, all with two outs. Glenn and Lucas walked and
that filled the bases because Karson Komnick was already on
board after being hit by a pitch. Jarrett Evers hit a single to
center to bring home two runs. After a walk to Wurth, the
Railsplitters were in good shape again and this time Lucas was
able to score from third on a wild pitch. The inning ended with
Evers caught stealing home, but the 6-0 Lincoln lead was more
than enough for a win.
Wyatt Mammen was the winning pitcher for Lincoln. He worked six
and two-thirds innings, scattering just three hits in the game.
He allowed six walks and had six strikeouts. Mammen tossed 106
pitches and 65 were for strikes.
Carson Fuiten came in the game to pitch to the final batter.
Fuiten threw two pitches, getting the final batter to hit a
grounder right back to him.
Lincoln had eight hits in the game, with Colbie Glenn and
Michael Lucas each getting two hits.
Jarrett Evers, Drew Hayes, Trey Schilling and Griffin Shaw each
had one hit.
Lincoln improved to 18-8 on the season.
The Railsplitters will play at Auburn today at 4:30 p.m.
