[May 10, 2024]  LINCOLN - Jewell Schachtele, 92, of Lincoln, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Copper Creek Cottages in Lincoln.

Service:  9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at New Union Cemetery.

Jewell Schachtele, 92, of Lincoln, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Copper Creek Cottages in Lincoln.

Jewell was born on August 20, 1931, in Lincoln, to Harry and Hester (Kirkman) Rohlfs. She married Dean Schachtele on July 11, 1953, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2018.

Jewell is survived by her children, Brenda Dexter of Lincoln and Tony Schachtele of Chestnut; three grandchildren, Shelley (Scott Mounce) Dexter of Normal, Andrew (Mandee) Dexter of Lincoln, and Derek (Samantha) Dexter of Delavan; seven great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brayden, and Brileigh Thomas, Drew and Faith Dexter, and Tripp and Asher Dexter. She is also survived by two sisters, Sharon Shehorn and Joyce Paige-Musick.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Betty Justus and Darlene McLendon; brother, Harry Rohlfs Jr.; son-in-law, Duane Dexter; and one grandson, Matthew Dexter.

Jewell worked as a telephone operator, cooked at Lincoln Junior High School, and retired from Lincoln Developmental Center. She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

A graveside service for Jewell will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at New Union Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Jewell’s name to Copper Creek Cottages.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
