Lincoln defeats Auburn 9-6

The Railsplitters were able to jump on the Trojans pitching early last Thursday in Auburn and come away with a 9-6 win.

Lincoln took advantage of some erratic pitching in the top of the first inning and with five walks issued, Lincoln was able to plate three runs. Michael Lucas also had a single in the inning.

Lucas hit a home run in the second inning to give Lincoln a 4-0 lead.

The lead was cut to 4-2 but in the fifth inning Auburn pretty much handed Lincoln two more runs. Three walks and a hit by pitch attributed to the runs. Jarrett Evers also had a lead-off single in the inning to get things started.

Trey Schilling hit a two-run single in the top of the sixth inning as Lincoln extended the lead to 8-2.

A run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning by Evers made the score 9-2.

The Trojans made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh inning by scoring four runs before Lincoln was able to escape further damage with a double play and a game-ending grounder with a runner aboard.

Parker Graue picked up the win in the 9-6 ballgame. He worked four innings and allowed four hits and zero runs.

Brenden Wurth started the game and went two innings. He allowed three hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out two.

Michael Lucas and Carson Fuiten shared pitching duties in the seventh inning.

Lucas and Evers had two hits each for Lincoln.

Graue, Schilling and Komnick each had one hit.

The Railsplitters improved to 19-8 on the season with the win over Auburn.
