[May 13, 2024]    On Saturday morning, the LMH Market in Lincoln kicked off its ninth season of offering locally grown or locally made products to shoppers with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Those who gathered behind the ribbon included Logan County Royalty Queen Ellyn Martinez and Little Miss Logan County Kodi Eigenbrod, LMH Foundation board member Linda McCuan, Community Health Collaborative staff Angela Stoltzenburg and Molly McCain, LMH Administrator Dolan Dalpoas, Market Manager Jaimie Jones, Lincoln Alderwoman Robin McClallen, Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch, Lincoln Alderman Kevin Bateman, and Logan County Tourism Director Alice Roate.

The first person to address the large crowd gathered awaiting the opening bell was Dalpoas. He noted that in his position he does many things in the name of the hospital, but the opening day of the LMH Market is by far his favorite. He thanked everyone for coming and passed the floor to market manager Jaimie Jones.

Jones said she was happy to see everyone, and she wanted to thank all for coming out for opening day.

Linda McCuan also welcomed everyone to the first day of the market.

Alderwoman Robin McClallen said she was happy to see the market return. She noted that this day was the second time she had visited the market and she was looking forward to seeing all that was offered.

Alderman Bateman made similar comments noting that this was a program that was good for the community.

Mayor Tracy Welch noted that it is the ninth year for the market. He said it was valuable asset to the community and he thanked all those who work to make it happen each year.

With speeches concluded, Dalpoas and Jones held the scissors for the posed pictures, then at the prompting of the crowd’s countdown and command to snip the two cut the ribbon in the 2024 market season.

Immediately following the ribbon cut, Dalpoas did the honor of ringing the bell indicating the market was officially open.

The LMH Market was founded by the Community Health Collaborative and remains under the supervision of that organization. The market is held each Saturday throughout the summer at the Logan County Fairground. The hours for the event are 8 a.m. to noon.

Throughout the summer there will be special activities and offers at the market including some of the standards such as the Power of Produce program for youth, health checks including blood pressure and cholesterol checks by the hospital, and freshly made breakfast this year served by MKS Livestock.
