Railsplitters Track and Field competes at Boys CS8 Meet
Lincoln ties for third place with Springfield High

Thursday, May 9, 2024 was an outstanding day for the Lincoln Railsplitters Track and Field team as the boys competed in the 2024 Central State Eight Meet at Southeast High School in Springfield.

Lincoln finished in a tie for third place with Springfield High School. Both schools had 77 points.

Chatham Glenwood finished in first place with 164 points and Normal University High finished in second place with 104.5 points.

Lincoln shined on the track with several first place finishes.

Parker Campbell was exceptional in his events, finishing first in both the 110m and 300m hurdles. Campbell ran the 110m hurdles in 15.54. He ran the 300m hurdles in 42.20.

Kani Carson was absolutely lightning fast and he won the 400m with a PR of 50.56.

The 4x400m relay team consisting of Ki’on Carson, Luke Jones, Ben Crombie and Kani Carson dominated this race with their best time so far this season: 3:26.4.

Other notable finishes:

400m

Ben Crombie finished in third place with a PR of 51.02.

800m

Ben Crombie finished in second place with a PR of 1:57.99.

Owen Cyrulik finished in 14th place with a time of 2:12.91.

1600m

Preston Short finished in 8th place with a time of 4:54.59 and Colin Crombie finished in 9th place with a time of 4:54.80. This is a PR for Crombie.

3200m

Preston Short finished in fourth place and had a PR of 10:17.42. He had the best finish for a freshman in this race.

Levi Allison finished in 12th place with a time of 11:58.69.

4x100m Relay

This Lincoln relay team finished in sixth place with a time of 47.62. That is a PR for the team consisting of Seth Durbin, Zain Hubrich, Aaron Roede and Luke Jones.

4x200m Relay

Lincoln finished in fifth place with a time of 1:43.86 and that was a PR for Seth Durbin, Garrett Lacefield, Elijah Crawford and Braxton Eilertson.

4x800m Relay

Lincoln was a respectable fourth place finish here with a time of 8:31.08. This was a PR for Owen Cyrulik, Elijah Crawford, Colin Crombie and Luke Jones.

Shot Put

Evan Wachendorf had a sixth place finish with a toss of 47’ 2 and that is a season best for the senior.

Joe Dahmm threw 35’ 2.5 for a 16th place finish.

Discus

Evan Wachendorf finished in seventh place in the discus with a toss of 111’ 10.5.

Joe Dahmm finished in 12th place with a finish of 105’ 9.
