Lincoln opens regional action with a 10-0 win over Urbana

The
Railsplitters opened play in the Class 3A Regional at home on
Wednesday afternoon and easily defeated Urbana 10-0.
Scoring early and often was the key to the game, with Lincoln
plating five runs on just one hit in the first inning. Carson Fuiten
had the only hit in the bottom of the first inning but the
Railsplitters were able to capitalize on three walks and three
errors in the inning. Colbie Glenn also opened the game by getting
hit by a pitch.
Lincoln scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Brenden
Wurth and Trey Schilling each singled and with two outs and Karson
Komnick hit a line drive to left to bring them home, making the
score 7-0.
In the bottom of the third inning, Jarrett Evers reached base after
getting hit by a pitch. Wurth hit a triple to bring Evers home to
make the score 8-0.
Komnick crushed a double to center in the fourth inning and the
courtesy runner, Austin Lucas, scored on Glenn’s single to left.
Lincoln increased the lead to 9-0.

Evers led off the fifth inning with a home run that
allowed Lincoln to celebrate the big 10-0 win.
Carson Fuiten pitched the five-inning shutout, earning the win while
surrendering two hits and one walk. Fuiten struck out three batters.
Brenden Wurth and Karson Komnick each paced the
Railsplitters offense with two hits.
Colbie Glenn, Jarrett Evers, Trey Schilling and Carson Fuiten each
had one hit.
Lincoln improved to 23-10-1 on the season.
The Railsplitters will play for the regional championship on
Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Mike Curry Field.
