Here we go again! It’s the boys' turn for a trip to State!
A total of 13 LCHS athletes are headed to the IHSA Class 2A Boys
State Track and Field Championships at Eastern Illinois University
in Charleston this weekend.
The team competed at the IHSA Class 2A TRG Sectional at Pontiac last
Wednesday with the boys qualifying for the state meet in five
individual events and two relays.
Junior Parker Campbell qualified in the 110m Hurdles and the 300m
Hurdles.
Campbell finished first in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 14.77. He
finished fourth in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 40.45.
Senior Ben Crombie qualified in the 400m and the 800m.
Crombie was second in the 400m to Kani Carson. Crombie’s time was
50.85.
Crombie also finished second in the 800m with a time of 1:58.84.
Senior Kani Carson qualified in the 400m with a first place finish,
leading the pack with a time of 50.29.
The 4x800m Relay team, made up of freshmen Owen Cyrulik, Colin
Crombie and Preston Short, will join senior Luke Jones on the track
at EIU. This team ran the relay in 8:15.34. They finished in fifth
place at Pontiac while running a PR. Every single relay team here
achieved a PR at sectionals.

Four seniors make up the 4x400m Relay team: Ki’on Carson, Luke
Jones, Ben Crombie and Kani Carson. These guys are fast. They topped
everybody at Pontiac with a time of 3:25.51. They ran the best time
of this season at Pontiac. The top nine teams in this relay all
achieved a PR at sectionals. In fact, 12 of the 13 teams all hit a
PR.
Alternates for the relay teams are: Elijah Crawford, Braxton
Eilertson, Ethan Maynard, Garrett Lacefield and Zain Hubrich.
The Prelims will take place today and the finals will take place on
Saturday.
