Armored truck robbery indictments

A federal grand jury has indicted 10 defendants, including two sets of brothers, for allegedly conspiring to violently rob armored trucks and automated teller machines in the Chicago suburbs.

According to an indictment returned in U.S. District Court in Chicago, the robbers brandished firearms in 11 robberies and attempted robberies in 2022 and 2023. The heists and attempted heists occurred in several cities, including Lansing, Country Club Hills, Orland Park and Chicago Heights. The heists resulted in a total loss of at least $3.8 million.

Escaped inmates charged

Two inmates face additional charges after they escaped from a work crew in Harrisburg.

A correctional officer at the Illinois Youth Center called police Friday after two inmates ran away during work detail in a cemetery. A nearby middle school was placed on lockdown and several police agencies responded.

Law enforcement found the inmates in a wooded area and took them into custody.
