2024 Trick or Treat with Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch
A perfect day brings out a very large attendance
 

[October 28, 2024]    On Saturday, October 26th, Lincoln held its annual Trick or Treat with the Mayor event near and around the Courthouse Square. The weather was a bit chilly at 10:00 a.m. when the trick or treating started, but it warmed up a bit by the time it ended at noon.

The beginning of the route was at Latham Park, where Mayor Tracy Welch, his wife, Annette, and Lincoln’s Administrative Assistant, Ashley Metelko. Mayor Welch was dressed up like Iron Man, and his wife was Captain America. Mayor Welch was also sure to let Lincoln Daily News know that Metelko was the one who organized the entire event.

Once the trick or treaters and their parents got their candy from the mayor, they received a map showing all the different locations where candy was being handed out.

This included the Logan County Safety Complex with EMA and other emergency services. Among those services were the Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District, the Lincoln Fire Police Departments and more.

The streets around the square were packed with people. Hundreds of kids were walking around and carrying their increasingly large candy hauls. Some kids were dressed as spooky characters, such as Foxy from Five Nights at Freddy’s and Wednesday Adams. Others were superheroes, like Superman and the Flash. Others were dressed like real-life heroes, such as police officers and firefighters. Some kids were well-known characters like Clifford the Big Red Dog. Others were unique costumes, such as the two kids dressed as plants, a boy dressed as a tree and a girl dressed as a sunflower. There was certainly no shortage of costumes on display.

Everyone seemed to be having a great time, both the trick-or-treaters and the ones handing out the candy alike. It was another successful (and well attended) Trick-or-Treat with the Mayor.
