Heartland Community College hosts criminal justice panel

[November 07, 2024]    Heartland Community College students and the general public will have an opportunity to learn about the criminal justice system from “both sides” at a symposium held on the Main Campus of the college.

The Heartland Community College is presenting “Real Talk: Both Sides of the System” at the Astroth Community Education Center (ACEC) Auditorium from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13.

The speaking panel brings together the voices of those who have been justice impacted and those who work in the criminal justice system.

The first hour of the event will be a formal panel presentation leading into the second hour panel and community discussion. Panelists will include Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington and BPD Sgt. Kiel Nowers.

This event is free and open to the community.

The event is hosted by Heartland Community College students enrolled in Sociology of Incarceration and is funded through Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (LASS) Innovative Grant funds established by Heartland.
